It's been a while...but we have exciting news!

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that we are launching a new project Community Voices: Memories and Stories of Island People.

Through this project we would like to invite people based in Shetland, and of all ages and from diverse backgrounds, to share life experiences during the challenging pandemic period.

First-hand narratives of people, their lives, stories and perceptions are a powerful way of portraying what social effects have been brought about in the past months, and this participatory arts project is designed to preserve a moment in time during an exceptional event in recent history.

We are particularly interested in receiving short video recordings (using mobile phones as recording devices) as means of sharing thoughts and experiences. We are also looking for contributions through any creative strands, such as writings, photography, drawing, spoken word or any combination of these expressive art forms. All creative contributions will be shared online with the wider community through a short docu-film that will be released at the beginning of next year.

Participation in this project is free of charge but since limited places are available we would liek to ask you to enrol by hitting the button below:

Please visit this project link to find out more about the project and questions we are asking participants to engage with.

Deadline for submission of creative contributions is the 30th September 2021.

Please do get in touch if you require further information!

Community Voices is an arts project funded by The Princes of Wales's Charitable Fund and supported by Shetland Arts.
